C.P.R.N. Role

Under the direction of divisional police officers, members of the C.P.R.N. undertake special Directed Patrols designed to provide additional information to investigations regarding criminal activity.
The Observe and Report role utilizing C.P.R.N. radio equipment may provide immediate police response when a crime in progress is detected.
C.P.R.N. members are involved in many community service projects and world class events. For example, Halloween Patrol, special functions at Klondike Days; Multiple Sclerosis Walk and Bike Tour; Triathlon; Downtown Business Association; Shopping mall surveillance; Industrial Patrol; Whyte Avenue Patrol; Community Special Assignments; Operation Family Identification (O.F.I.)
Members of C.P.R.N. have been instrumental in the apprehension of suspects for various crimes, including break and enters, and arson. They have helped to identify stolen vehicles and responded on an immediate basis to assist in the search for missing persons, natural disaster, relief and community crime preventions needs. Their contribution to crime prevention activities has been recognized in the form of Federal and Provincial Solicitor Generalsā€˜ Crime Prevention Awards.
Workshops are provided on an ongoing basis for the volunteers to assist in their crime prevention and community assistance role.
